Paint Colours - Classics and 2020 trends
Paint is the best way to update your home!
It is reasonably inexpensive and can give the greatest impact.
Neutrals are a great backdrop and is very comforting in a room. It allows you to add your pop of colour to the room with out competing. Layering greige adds depth to a room in a very subtle way, you are able to see the beauty of the undertones of each shade.
Here are some of my go to paint colours I use over and over.
Revere Pewter Benjamin Moore - HC 172 - this colour is a great greige neutral that can compliment just about anything you have going on in your home.
Simply White Benjamin Moore - OC 117 - this colour is off white and has some yellow undertones but not enough to overpower. It is a great neutral for trim and doors.
Edgecomb Gray Benjamin Moore - HC 173 - this colour is very similar to revere pewter with the undertones however it is a much lighter version.
Metropolitan Benjamin Moore - AF-690 - 2019 colour of the year, this colour is cool and contemporary and pairs well with other greys and neutrals.
Kendall Charcoal Benjamin Moore - HC-166 - This colour is deep dark and moody. It is very dramatic and a great colour for a small powder room. Still sticking to the grey, neutral family it is one of my favourites for a deep dark grey.

View colours in your room at multiple times of the day, as different light hits the room. Go with what makes you happy. There are “cool” colours and “warm” colours and you are either a cool or warm person. You know if you want a light colour versus a dark colour, a warm colour that feels cozy and inviting or a cool colour that feels fresh and contemporary.
Where do I buy paint?
Supporting local is always my first priority so normally I shop for paint at our local Co-op. If you bring them the paint swatch they can mix the paint colour for you. Sometimes with darker richer colours it is hard to colour match and if your looking for a colour like that going to the Benjamin Moore supplier is always your best bet. Unfortunately we don’t have a BM supplier in town but Fort St. John and Grande Prairie both do. I always call in my paint and tell them what I want and then its ready when I pick it up.
If you are not in the Peace Region area, contact your local hardware store or paint store and they would be happy to colour match or help you with what they can provide.
Keep in mind the type of paint you are buying for the type of room or surface your painting. For example trim paint you almost always be a semi gloss and specifically a trim/ door/ /kitchen cabinet paint. It needs to be durable and easy to wipe to stand the test of high traffic. You can use a regular wall paint but you will notice after a year or so it won’t look as nice and won’t stand up the way it should.
Paint brands
Why do I love Benjamin Moore paint? It is and always has been a leader in colours. From the deep colour tones to the neutrals they are classic and historic and I love both of those elements. The paint product itself has always been above par and can stand the test of time.
