Colour is back and brighter than ever!
This design trend is adding pops of colour in spaces to add a little something different to each room.

Adding a bright fun colour to a room can bring a lot of life back into but it can also help to break up the neutral colour palette!
You can add a pop of colour to any room in many different ways. It could be in a piece of furniture like a couch or accent chair, it could be in the colour you paint a single wall, or it could be pieces of decor that you place around the house.

It is super easy to incoporate pops of colour into your home and it is never to late to hop on the trend!

Everybody wants to be a little more eco-friendly in their day to day life!

Sustainable and natural materials are becoming the next big thing when designing and decorating your home. These types of materials have positive impacts in the environment because they used naturally sourced and recyclable materials. Sustainable materials are anything from bamboo and wood to clay and sand. When you use sustainable materials you help in preserving the environment and helping to reuse the products that come right from the environment. Now you can have a unique looking home that is saving the planet at the same time.

Many big companies like Amazon and Starbucks are beginning to go the route of using more recycled materials to help reduce the size of their footprint. They are supporting the sustainable initiatives that many people and companies are beginning to follow around the world much like the furniture industry. The industry is starting use more recycled products such as; plastics, metals, and woods. Interior Design has been following the trend as well by taking vintage or older style furniture and instead of throwing it away giving it new life when it’s reupholstered.

Trends That Have Got to Go

Now we can’t talk about trends without talking about some trends that should probably stay gone!

The first trend is tile countertops! Countertops like these were a huge trend in the 1970’s but now they look dated and they can be difficult to clean. Linoleum flooring is another trend that needs to be gone. Many home at one time or another probably had similar flooring to this in their kitchen or dining room but now it makes those rooms feel dated. Word art is something everybody loves and everybody has but sometimes that is everywhere in your home or you are deciding on getting some, choose something that is more meaningful for your family and speaks to your home more. Futons are something every college kid had at one point or another. If you’re wanting to add a couch into a part of your room try a love seat! Lastly, even though wallpaper is making a comeback and is looking better than ever, wallpaper borders should not! It’s a trend from the 90’s that should stay in the 90’s.

Even though many trends from the 80’s and 90’s are making a comeback, these should stay gone!
